Summary

Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it's now all over the internet。 Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up。 When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They'll date each other and break up。 Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives。 It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work。

Emma hadn't planned that her next assignment as a traveling nurse would be in Minnesota, but she and her best friend agree that dating Justin is too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially when they get to rent an adorable cottage on a private island on Lake Minnetonka。

It's supposed to be a quick fling, just for the summer。 But when Emma's toxic mother shows up and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they're suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected–including catching real feelings for each other。 What if this time Fate has actually brought the perfect pair together?

Another Great Abby boo! I love how she ties her characters together into her new stories so we get an update on their lives while falling in love with new characters。 I know this book was written with the characters in their 30s which is exactly where I fall so I was able to relate to Emma at many points in the story。 When Justin tells Emma "you're not asking for too much, you were asking the wrong person" I absolutely wish these types of men existed outside of books I just ahh! I am a fan of this author。 I have loved all her other books。 However。 In my opinion, she needs to stop relying on current trends on social media for her jokes。 The entire first chapter read like a TikTok story and not in a good way。 Right out of the gate, our story opener is a "Am I the Asshole" reddit thread。 Then we are DM-ing the guy, social media stalking the guy, and making comments like "hey he has a headboard and furniture, he's probably a great guy。" and my favorite "He's got a J name。 J I am a fan of this author。 I have loved all her other books。 However。 In my opinion, she needs to stop relying on current trends on social media for her jokes。 The entire first chapter read like a TikTok story and not in a good way。 Right out of the gate, our story opener is a "Am I the Asshole" reddit thread。 Then we are DM-ing the guy, social media stalking the guy, and making comments like "hey he has a headboard and furniture, he's probably a great guy。" and my favorite "He's got a J name。 J-named men are the worst。" This could have been ripped straight from some 20 something's TikTok。 Oh but wait, the characters are supposed to be in their 30s。This kitschy and juvenile entry to the book really turned me off。 All I could think was how this will age so poorly and Abby's writing is so much better than this。 Her stories deserve to shine, not get buried underneath trends and pop culture references。 。。。more

I loved this story and I know that readers will fall in love with Emma and Justin and many readers will resonate with their experiences。 Abby is a rom com powerhouse, and "Just for the Summer" packs the most powerful punch yet。 Full of delightful banter, lovable characters, and the most heartwarming and heart-wrenching plot。 Hopefully I will stop crying over this book soon, but I haven't stopped yet。 A story I will carry with me for the rest of my life。 。。。more

I can not give it enough stars。 。。。more

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Emma and Justin are both “cursed”。 Everyone they date ends up meeting their soulmates right after they breakup。 Emma, a traveling nurse, had a chaotic childhood and has no interest in settling down。 Her online banter with Justin conviences her to come to Minnesota on her next travel assignment to help Justin break his curse。 Surely their curses will cancel each other out。 That’s it。 4 dates, 1 kiss, and a breakup。 Right? I loved Emma’s character arc。 Diving into all her childhood trauma and seeing how it affected her in her adult life。 Watching her toxic mother/ daughter relationship emplode even further。 All the symbolism and Easter eggs from A Part Of Your World。 I honestly did not catch the relation of Amber to the first book until everything hit the fan。 My jaw was on the floor。 Justin is dealing with his own parental issues。 His dad recently died, and now his mother is going away to prison leaving him to care for his 3 younger siblings。 He is falling in love with Emma, and begging her to meet him where he is at。 Begging her to stay for him。 He is the epitome of “if he wanted to he would” and he shows Emma that he can love her the right way。 Love doesn’t have to be painful and abandonment。 I also loved Maddys character。 She was hilarious and said exactly what everyone else was thinking。 She didn’t sugarcoat things for Emma, but was always there when Emma needed her。 Maddy is proof that you can choose family。 I found myself smiling like a fool at my kindle, blushing, and then sobbing at the end。 Some parts were a little cringe, like the whole toilet king inside joke。 What kind of romance includes headlice, stomach viruses, period problems, and saving drunk people with feral raccoons hidden in their bras? But somehow it worked。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Ack my heart! 😭🥹 The utter perfection that was Emma’s description of trauma through ice, I have never heard a more precise way to describe it。 The entire book, we see a woman who believes herself to be healed from a traumatic upbringing, attempting to proceed with her life and helping others, yet not realizing just how deeply rooted her issues are。 In comes the relationship she never expected, through a casual attempt at breaking their perspective bad luck, but nothing goes as planned。 Justin is Ack my heart! 😭🥹 The utter perfection that was Emma’s description of trauma through ice, I have never heard a more precise way to describe it。 The entire book, we see a woman who believes herself to be healed from a traumatic upbringing, attempting to proceed with her life and helping others, yet not realizing just how deeply rooted her issues are。 In comes the relationship she never expected, through a casual attempt at breaking their perspective bad luck, but nothing goes as planned。 Justin is dealing with his own familial troubles and falls for Emma harddd。 The side characters were everything, like the freakin raccoon scene IYKYK。 At some points, I felt a little annoyed with Maddy’s overprotective tendencies but realistically I know that I would be just as bad in her place lmao。 Seeing Emma and Justin’s growth into what could be was sweet but also left me on edge waiting for the other shoe to drop。 Of course, when things come to a head, the lesson of “you need to love yourself before you can love someone else” is learnt the hard way。 (Thank you, Ru Paul🙏🏻) I may have teared up…a lot。 Don’t worry though y’all, everything ends up in such a beautiful way, I’ve forgiven Abby for the crying 😂Side note, I vote no that Justin is NTA for dog Brad!Thank you to Forever and Netgalley for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts! 💕 。。。more
